Andy, our Senior Unmanned Systems Analyst, supports the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization efforts to safely integrate small UAS into the National Airspace System.
His unique viewpoint is a culmination of over 16 years in aviation with specific experience and/or licenses in air traffic control, flight service station operations and quality assurance, aircraft dispatching, aircraft maintenance (US Air Force), and has private pilot and drone operator licenses.
Additionally, he has a degree in Flight Dispatching and Air Traffic Control from Middle Tennessee State University, completed multiple courses in Global UAS Risk Management, and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Unmanned Systems.
With more than 15 years experience in the aviation industry, Chad brings a wealth of knowledge of aviation and air traffic control.
He has worked as a flight service specialist, flight service operations center specialist, and has supported the national operations of day-to-day air traffic. Chad currently assists the FAA in developing automation systems and aeronautical information systems for the en route, terminal, and oceanic air traffic domains.
Chad is a graduate of the Lockheed Martin Flight Services Academy, holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, and a Master of Science in Aeronautics. He also holds a private pilot license.
With over 18 years of progressive experience in the aviation industry, Tara brings a wealth of knowledge of aviation and aviation safety culture.
She currently supports FAA clients and has served as an air traffic control specialist, a flight services specialist, quality assurance systems engineer, airport planner, and project manager as well as a safety and operations advisor. Tara’s passion for aviation excellence extends beyond any single professional role as she seeks opportunities to improve safety through education. As both an FAA licensed Advanced Ground Instructor and sUAS Operator, she is uniquely positioned to leverage her diverse professional aviation industry experience with her fixed-wing and rotorcraft experience to deliver well-rounded industry perspectives and education with a relevant balance between curriculum and real-world scenarios.
Tara is a graduate of the FAA Air Route Traffic Control Academy, the Lockheed Martin Flight Service Academy, holds a Master of Science in Project Management with a focus in aviation efficiencies and safety, a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and an AAS in Air Traffic Control. Tara is also Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified and a Certified Scrum Master.
With more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, Joe brings a vast knowledge of aviation and air traffic control.
He has special expertise focused on Next Generation Automation platforms including Ground Interval Management (GIM-S), ADS-B and Surveillance Sensor mode (TBDM), Surveillance Broadcast System (SBS), Airborne Reroute (ABRR) and Traffic Flow Management systems (TFMS). He served for nearly 30 years as a Certified Professional Controller and Traffic Management Specialist with the FAA while also supporting NextGen Automation system deployment across the National Airspace System. Joe currently provides air traffic control and engineering support to the FAA Second Level Engineering division with a focus on NextGen Advanced Automation systems test development, execution and conduct. Joe also provides advanced system requirements analysis and review.
Joe holds an undergraduate degree in business and mathematics and is a graduate of the FAA Air Traffic Control Academy and Air Traffic Management Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Matt is a Senior Consultant presently serving as Team Lead, Systems Engineering Support, and Human Interface Designer of the FAA’s Abacus program.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Air Traffic Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Matt accumulated 12 years of experience in the aviation industry and gained specialized experience in Air Traffic, Aviation Weather, Human Factors, and Aviation Component Fabrication. Matt is a graduate of the FAA Tower Air Traffic Control Academy and the Lockheed Martin Flight Service Academy. Additionally, Matt possesses expert knowledge of small-run manufacturing, CNC machining, 3D printing, laser cutting, and large-format printing.
Dawn is a communications and project management specialist with 10+ years of experience helping government clients achieve project goals and tell a better story.
She has extensive experience supporting strategic planning and communications around UAS for the FAA. Previously, Dawn supported communications and quality assurance for FAA’s ERAM program. She also managed USAID-funded programs worldwide for eight years, including startup and closeout, deliverables preparation, compliance, budget management, and proposal preparation.
Dawn holds a master’s degree in European Union integration and a bachelor’s degree in government, completed a Fulbright fellowship in Belgium, and is fluent in French.
James has 17 years experience in the defense industry and brings with him a wealth of knowledge in how UASs are used as threats.
His experience includes working as an intelligence analyst and open-source intelligence consultant, for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, focused on counter improvised threat, including counter-UAS; as an intelligence analyst for the US Air Force, and as an Armor Crewman in the US Army. James has also accumulated skills in project management and business process improvement, and is currently working with the FAA’s Terminal Automation Modernization and Replacement Program.
James is a graduate of the United States Air Force’s Operations Intelligence course and holds a master’s degree in history.
Zack has supported the FAA for the past two years in its mission to provide comprehensive services to UAS pilots.
He provides risk management and mitigation services and helps ensure the FAA is in compliance with a variety of regulatory and statutory requirements. Before coming to the FAA, Zack was a trial attorney in private practice with a wealth of experience in legal interpretation and identification of issues that can both prevent and lead to lawsuits.
Zack has a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College and earned his Juris Doctorate from Washington & Lee University. He is currently a member of the bar in Virginia, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.
Having worked as a flight service operations center specialist developing statistical forecast models and supporting the AFSS program with contingency operations, Jake has accumulated more than 13 years of aviation related experience.
Jake uses his extensive experience in data analytics and visualization to support the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization in unifying contingency and continuity operations throughout the National Airspace System.
Jake holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a focus in aviation safety. He is a graduate of the Lockheed Martin Flight Services Academy and is a multi-engine instrument rated private pilot.
