The discussion will touch on key points affecting the Aviation industry and Air Traffic Controller community as a whole, including:

  • Key challenges presented by the advent of disruptive technology trends in aviation, such as unmanned aircraft;
  • Changes in the relationship between the pilot and service provider, and the opportunities and issues these can present;
  • The introduction of Remote Pilot, a new type of pilot certificate, to allow individuals to enter the National Airspace System without traditional pilot training and instruction; and
  • The importance of a human-centered approach to support successful outcomes throughout the Aviation industry and market space, particularly in the case of how the FAA and other regulatory entities communicate with new types of stakeholders to integrate UAVs and uphold safety in our airspaces.
